Community owned solar irrigation systems

SFI has worked on creating a unique business model for community-owned and managed solar irrigation sites with farmers coming together in ‘water-groups’, making a contribution of up to 40% of the investment. Associating with local partners, multiple irrigation projects across Bihar, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Jharkhand have been taken up. Across these regions, approximately 400 farmers have benefited from multiple types of irrigation facilities: lift and drip irrigation, solar energy irrigation, and sprinkler irrigation. Farmers who could not cultivate their land in Rabi are now growing high-value crops and are thus increasing their income.
